About  DENNIS  SUN

A cum laude graduate of the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, Dennis Sun earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and majored in Visual Communications.

Immediately after graduating, he began teaching college students Humanities and Art Appreciation classes. After a year, he moved to Tokyo and worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for a decade before becoming a freelancer.

Dennis works as an art creator. In addition to being a graphic designer and illustrator by profession, he also creates sculptures, etchings, computer graphics, ceramics, murals, and comic strips. Dennis has done solo art exhibitions in: Onda Gallery in USA, UNESCO, Jakarta, Indonesia, Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, World Trade in Yokohama, ASEAN CENTRE TOKYO, Nagoya International Center in Nagoya, Tokyo American Club, Tokyo, Philippine National Bank, Nagoya and many more...

Dennis founded Jeepney Press with his sister, a non-commercial publication for Filipinos in Japan. Dennis works as its editor-in-chief and creative director. 

Dennis has worked with Asahi Weekly Shinbun and had his own weekly column, STRANGERS SURVIVING, which talks about how foreigners survive in Japan. To the delight of his fans, his column led to the creation of a colorful comic strip as well.

Dennis has won several design, art, literary and academic awards both in the Philippines and Japan. His works have been exhibited all around Japan, USA and Asia. Hopefully he will spread as much love and joy around the world as possible with his works.

Dennis contributes his multi-talents to charity events. He designs logos, brochures and even lends his emceeing skills to these charitable events. In 2002, the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo nominated Dennis for the Presidential Heritage Award for his outstanding performance of his field of work in Japan. In 2010, Dennis received the prestigious SM GLOBAL PINOY AWARD for Filipinos excelling in their field of profession in the global arena. His most notable achievement in the mass media was receiving the MOKA Award in 2013.
